Authors note

My name is Kendra Smith and I am 17 currently in Grade 12. I truly haven’t been able to experience my life to the fullest… yet.  After I graduate high school I plan on completing my bucket list, and possibly adding to it as well. My whole life I’ve wanted to travel but I’ve never had the chance to. I find myself looking through blogs about all these people traveling to amazing places… and I want to do that. I’ve grown up in a family who doesn’t really like to travel and I’ve never gone on a family vacation. Many things on my bucket list have to be with traveling. Others I’ve always wanted to do, like adopt a child or be an organ donor. While I was making my bucket list I realized how I wanted to do so many cool and exciting things in my life that I haven’t had the chance to do. I plan on filling my life with amazing experiences, and unbelievable moments. Some may feel trapped where they are; even if I don’t have the money I will find a way to accomplish all my things on my bucket list!  I don’t think that it will be hard to complete my bucket list, because hopefully I have at least 50 YEARS to complete it. It will take some time and effort but how amazing would it be to say that you’ve completed your bucket list. Maybe I’ll even make another one when I’m older.

What now

I have many many things on my list that I want to complete. I have actually accomplished one already, number 54 see the northern lights. It’s always been on my bucket list and I’ve completed it. This summer I was out at my friend Jennis Lake for a weekend and we were all sitting by the campfire talking and having a good time. We were all looking at the stars and out of nowhere we see blue and green lights shooting across the sky. My next one to be accomplished is number 10, travel somewhere hot. I’ve never been on a vacation somewhere hot but this July I’m packing my bags and heading to Cancun with a group of my friends! I was hesitant about going on this trip, just because it was so much money. But I've been working quite a bit and I've been saving my money so that I will have enough to go.  To complete the other things on my list I plan on working a lot and saving my money to go on trips. I don’t want to spend my money on useless things I want to save it. And by saving money for my trips I will be accomplishing number 95 on my bucket list; learning how to save money.

"The Night I Died"

June 6, 2006

            I grab my leg in agony screaming for help… but no one can hear… no one can hear my call. I slide my hand to my leg, feeling the warm velvet red blood stream out of my limb. I try and move the heavy beam off my leg, but with every push an agonizing pain runs through my body crippling me.  The excruciating pain overtakes me. My head is spinning as though I am on a merry go round. Feeling woozy I take my head and rest it on the hard concert floor. I lay my cheek upon the ground and I instantly jerk up, expecting the cold of it to cool me, but it feels as though the ground has been heated. I take a deep breath of air and a familiar scent fills my lungs.  Smoke, I turn my head towards the large metal door that leads to the hall. A  

menacing cloud of smoke creeps under the door and fills the room.

“Help me, I’m stuck,” I yell filled with panic… no response.  The heavy fog of smoke surrounds me, my eyes burn I blink but it won’t go away. My chest is getting tighter and tighter with every breath. My throat and nose are burning. My body feels like its being wrapped in a blanket of fire, my skin is being burned. I can’t do anything for myself, I can’t do this anymore. I try everything I can to spit out one more call for help, but its useless.  I’m ready to let go. The room is spinning, and I’m not able to see straight. I feel like I’m in a movie, my life is being played and then paused… I feel myself coming in and out of consciousness. I brace myself, but my body collapses. I find myself struggling for air, grasping on to my life. The flames grow higher and higher engulfing the room that once was mine. I can feel someone grasping my hand, but there’s no way someone could be with me.  I feel a wave of peace, the pain is gone.  My sight comes into focus and I see my body limp on an ambulance stretcher, body dirtied with burns. Right next to me is my mother, holding my hand.  

            “Is she gone?” my mother says, as she turns to the paramedic face painted with pain.  The soft-spoken paramedic looks up at my mother.

            “We’re doing the most we can Ma’am,” with his head held low and his feet pacing. I can tell my mom know the worst, watching her body crumble to the ground grasping her face sobbing. Sirens fill the air with the sounds of horns. I watch my neighbour, my best friend Faith pull up in her drive way face full of panic. As she runs down the street to see what happened her father stops her.

            “Faith honey, there has been a terrible accident with Cammy. She didn’t make it,” he says with a trembling lip. All I see is my best friend fall into her father’s arms.  I scream to my mother and best friend that I’m okay, so desperately I want them to hear me. But I know they will never hear my voice again.

I got bangs two weeks ago! Yay! I've finally done something with it rather then having it all one length and boring. I wasn't too sure about them earlier but I love them.

This is the most beautiful sight my lights off and in bed. I've worked everyday since Wednesday and finally have Tuesday off and will repeat the process all over again. Sleep in my bestfriend.

Nick flex's his muscles in the mirror with a satisfied expression on his face. "Cam we gotta put on a tank."

"To show off these guns eh?" Cam says, as he scans the room for the perfect tank.

Nick picks up a tank  and and tosses it to Cam. "This one dude."

Cam give Nick a smirk and says, "perfect."

As Nick puts on a hat and  bandana, Cam pulls out his phone to take the picture. Cam says, "Bra, get over here."

"Yo bro pop up the peace sign, girls love the peace," Nick says as he poses in front of the mirror.

Cam pops out his chest, and raises his chin. "Dang we look hot." he says as he checks his reflection out in the mirror.

Nick takes the picture, the two stare at the picture like they've never seen anything hotter in their life.

"Cam grabs the phone and says, "Facebook or Instagram?"

Christmas is here!

Here is a picture of my boyfriend and I at the Sabta Claus parade. We had the pleasure of being in it!!!! The business my uncle works for has a float every year and I've been on the float for probably the past five years. I love it and it's a great way to kick off the holiday season.  

Eavesdropping

We went downstairs into the halls and found a group of friends (2 guys and a girl) talking outside a locker. We were there for around 5 minutes listening to there conversation. It was mostly one of the guys and the girl talking to each other.  It was hard because people talk really fast, I also think they kind of knew that we were listening to them. I don't think people speak in full sentences and they cut each other off. The girl talked really quietly and I think it was because the girl was with 2 guys. People also jump all over in the conversation. You can kind of make it broken and have people cutting other people off. As well as having topics change quickly. I think that personality comes through in dialogue through the word  choice a person uses and there tone of voice shows how they are. I also think depending who controls the conversations shows if they are more controlling or not. When to or more people participate in a conversation I think that two people talk more then the rest of the people involved so it is controlled by the more dominant people in the group. I think that people converse differently with there girls friends then they do with their boyfriends and some peoples conversations have absolutely no meaning and are just to hear the sound of their own voice talking. Think in spoken conversation it is a lot easier to get the tone of voice a person has and you can learn a lot more about there personality and how they act around people. I think in written you don't get that one and it is a little harder to understand the tone.

Imagery Paragraph

Perks of Being a Wallflower

1)I chose this passage because of all the descriptive word choices. These words paint a picture in your mind, making you feel the same as Charlie did. This imagery helps tell the story more in depth making you visualize the way the character did. 

2)the author uses both senses visual and kinesthetic quite equally. The author wanted to put you in the shoes of the character. Make you feel and think the same way as him while reading it. 

3) The best snippet of imagery within this passage is "or how everything was a deafening whisper". This snippet helped me feel the way Charlie felt in the situation. How everything was a whisper but it was so loud. Everything someone would say you be pounding in his head (at this time Charlie was having physiological problems). 

4)I believe that this imagery is negative. Charlie is in a doctors office being told he  needed to see a psychiatrist again. He's going crazy, but he notices every single detail in the room, things normal people would see but not really look into as Charlie did. The author jumps from topic to topic, from him being in the room with his parents when they were told to a white coat to the character being tired. 

5)The emotion I feel is being created by this passage is dillusion. The way the author skips back and for between topics. How author wrote about how every little detail I felt like I was sitting in the doctors office going crazy. 

6)It's important that the reader is able to be put in the characters shoes. To know now how the character feels so the reader has a better understanding of the character.

I'm at the lowest part of the earth, and it's dragging me down.  My core is hollow, with grief and sorrow for my departed wife. I stand alone in this grave with people around, saying goodbye to the women I've found. My body is numb and my eyes weep, my heart pounds so bitter sweet. I look out to see the darkest dim floor, to rest my wife who is no more. I'm done with life I cannot live, I grasp my last breath and then I give.

If I had to choose between being a carnivore, or a herbivore for the rest of my life it would be a herbivore. Meat is nasty in my books, being a herbivore would be easy. Fruits, veggies, and grains all the time. You have a huge variety to choose from compared to what meat you could eat. Wouldn't you get sick and bored of eating dead animals all the time? Let along all the pollution animal factories and farms make, from all the toxic run off to all the gas emissions the farms give off. For the earths sake aswell choosing to only eat plants would be the best way to save it.

If you haven't tasted McDonalds, but would like an idea of what it tastes like, do this- make your way to the closest rendering plant. Be careful you may want to wear some sort of hazard suit (incase any pig pieces fly at you). Take a look at the tub of disgusting pig fat (you may know this as lard) and scoop up some of it and eat it. You now know what McDonalds tastes like, also add in a side of animal cruelty, GMOs and some chemicals for flavour and you've got it bang on ! 

Bra Specialist!

So just a few days ago I was told that I've been promoted to one of the three bra specialists at my work WOOO promotion! I'm super excited about this because I'll be in the fitting rooms all the time (my favourite place to be). I'm now an elevated associate and I have more responsibility and I'm really excited to start.

Halloween Costume!
